Welcome to our new series- Staff Spotlight! We'll be going straight to our staff members to find out what their top planty picks are. First up: Daisy

Daisy is our resident Illustrator and Shop Manager. Her top plants often influence the shop's stock, so it's always worth popping in to see what's on her list!
Daisy's plant taste in a few words: "easy-care, weird, unpopular"
1. Hoya Gracillis

Hoyas are always the first Genus of plant Daisy points out to customers, and we can understand why! Super easy, tolerant of different light-levels, and flowering- the Hoya is a plant that should be in everyone's collection.
What Daisy Says: "Hoya's put up with so much abuse in my collection and they still thrive. I've found they can live in anything from full-sun to pretty low light, and I water about once a month."
2. Epiphyllum Anguliger
Epiphyllum Anguliger, or the 'Fishbone Cactus' is a funky plant. Part of a group commonly called the 'Jungle Cactus', these plants combine the low-maintenance of a classic cactus, with the funky foliage of more tropical plants. They tend to grow a bit wild and uncontrollable.
What Daisy Says: "I have three of these now, and it still might not be enough. They just get on with life, and are so easy to take cuttings from"

Philodendrons are a classic houseplant for a reason. These tropical beauties will thrive in bright-indirect light, but can tolerate a darker spot too. Watering every 1 to 2 weeks is perfect.
What Daisy Says: "They look like a starry sky! Mottled, creamy variegation has always been my favourite, and this Philodendron brings it in bucketloads."
4. Earthstar

Earthstars are most commonly seen as terrarium plants, which we think puts them in too much of a (pretty, glass) box! These fab plants are tolerant of almost anything. We've had them in every lighting, temperature, and moisture condition we can think of- nothing kills these. They've also never gotten a pest issue with us- a rare and valuable trait!
What Daisy Says: "Don't even get me started on the Earthstar rant. I can't understand why they aren't more popular"

The slightly more interesting cousin to the classic Maranta, the fiesta is a beautiful plant best suited to humid spaces.
What Daisy Says: "My guilty pleasure of plants. I can't stop buying these, even though I keep killing them. They aren't difficult, I'm just lazy!"
