We’re an independent plant shop on North Street in Bedminster, filled with easy-care favourites, rare and unusual plants, handmade terrariums, our own soil mixes, useful pots and a little Secret Garden out the back.
Plant shopping should be exciting, useful and occasionally a bit weird—not intimidating. You’re equally welcome if you know every botanical name or you’re quietly worried because you once killed a cactus.
Meet Devaki
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by enormous trees, damp green things and my grandmother’s garden. But my proper indoor-plant obsession didn’t begin until 2020, while I was training in psychotherapy and spending far too much time in online rare-plant communities.
Before Plant Studio, I worked in photography for nearly 20 years across three countries. That way of looking at light, colour, texture and unusual subjects still shapes everything—from the plants we choose to the installations and displays we create.
I opened Plant Studio in 2023 because I wanted a shop where curiosity mattered more than already knowing the answers. It has been a rollercoaster, obviously, but a very leafy one.

RHS Gold Medal winners
In July 2026, our little team created the Girlypop Biosphere for the RHS Badminton Houseplant Show—a bright, maximalist world filled with bold foliage, colour and nostalgic chaos.
It won an RHS Gold Medal, which still feels slightly ridiculous in the best possible way. It also proved something we’ve always believed: indoor horticulture can be playful, expressive and taken seriously all at once.
Plant Studio may have started with Devaki, but it only works because of our small, clever and creative team.
Between us, we keep the shop alive, choose and care for the plants, mix an alarming amount of soil, build tiny terrarium worlds, pack online orders, run workshops and tackle installations across Bristol.
We’re all proper plant nerds in slightly different ways—and always happy to help you work out what will actually suit your space.
Plant care should feel useful, not intimidating. We’ll help you understand how light, water, soil and temperature work together, without pretending there’s one perfect routine for every plant or every person.
