Description

Soft, rippled, and touchably fuzzy—Calathea rufibarba (a.k.a. Furry Feather Calathea or Velvet Calathea) brings gentle drama with long, elegant leaves and rich burgundy undersides. Looks fancy, feels soft, acts a bit fussy—but we love it anyway.

Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. Can tolerate lower light, but too much direct sun will scorch the leaves.

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Prefers rainwater or filtered water—tap water may cause browning edges.

Temperature: Thrives in 18–24°C. Doesn’t like cold, dry air or draughts. Keep it cosy and away from radiators.

Potting: Our Thirst Trap mix is perfect—moisture-retentive but well-draining to keep roots happy.

Hot tips: Loves humidity—great in bathrooms or near a humidifier. Wipe leaves gently to keep the velvet glow. Feed monthly in spring and summer.
