Columnea arguta - Goldfish Plant

Columnea arguta, often known as a type of Goldfish Plant, is a beautiful trailing houseplant prized for its elegant cascading stems and refined foliage. Its small, pointed green leaves grow densely along slender trailing stems, creating a soft, flowing shape that looks especially striking in hanging pots or displayed on shelves.

In the right conditions, mature plants can produce vivid tubular flowers, adding an unexpected burst of colour and making this species particularly rewarding for collectors. Its graceful trailing habit makes it ideal for adding vertical interest and softening plant displays.

Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, Columnea arguta thrives in warm, bright environments with good humidity, making it perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, or grouped with other tropical plants.

Plant Care 

Light: Bright, indirect light encourages the best flowering. Too little light may reduce blooms.

Watering: Water when the top layer of soil feels dry. Keep evenly moist in summer, but allow to dry slightly more in winter.

Temperature: Ideally, they want 18-24°C, especially if you want them to flower. Don't let it get below 10°C. Otherwise, you will see leaf drop and have one sad-looking plant. 

Potting: This plant is an Epiphyte (grows on other plants/trees/branches)in the wild, so a chunky mix is ideal. Our super chonk mix will do the trick. 

Hot tips: This plant loves humidity, so a bright, steamy bathroom is ideal
