Peperomia Prostrata - String of turtles
A tiny treasure for any plant lover, Peperomia prostrata (known as String of Turtles) has perfectly round, patterned leaves that look like miniature turtle shells trailing along delicate stems. This slow-growing, semi-succulent species is adored for its intricate detail and compact size, making it ideal for terrariums, shelves, or small hanging planters. Easy to care for and endlessly charming, it’s a must-have for any collection of trailing indoor plants.
Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light, too much sun, and you risk scorching the leaves. Tolerant of low light as long as watering is monitored carefully.
Watering: Water when the soil has almost completely dried out, as this is a drought-resistant plant. Less is more, and these prefer rainwater and to be bottom watered if possible.
Temperature: 18-24°C is ideal. This plant is not keen on being cold so best kept away from cold drafts.
Potting: A well-draining mix is perfect for this plant. Our Sandy Loam is an excellent choice for this plant.
Hot tips: This plant is a great gift, as it's believed to bring its owner wealth and prosperity.
