Salvia Salgoon® ‘Lake Blueberry’ – Ornamental Sage

Salvia ‘Lake Blueberry’ produces dense spikes of intensely blue-purple flowers above fresh green foliage. Compact, upright and wonderfully colourful, it flowers generously from late spring into autumn, bringing months of colour to sunny borders and patio pots.

The nectar-rich blooms are especially popular with bees and butterflies, while the aromatic foliage and deep blueberry colouring make it a gorgeous addition to a pollinator-friendly garden.

Plant Care

Position: Full sun to partial shade in a sheltered location. Thrives in fertile, free-draining soil and benefits from protection from cold winds.

Watering: Water regularly during dry spells, particularly when grown in containers. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings, but avoid prolonged periods of drought while the plant is actively growing and flowering.

Hardiness: Tender perennial. Borderline hardy in the UK. In Bristol and other mild, sheltered areas it may overwinter outdoors in free-draining soil, but it should be protected from hard frost. Move container-grown plants somewhere sheltered or frost-free during winter.

Hot Tips: Cut away faded flower spikes regularly to keep the display going for longer. Avoid cutting the whole plant back hard in autumn—leave the old growth in place to provide some winter protection, then tidy it up once new growth appears in spring.
