Senecio macroglossus ‘Variegatus’ has glossy, ivy-shaped leaves edged in creamy white, held on flexible trailing stems. Despite the ivy-like look, it’s a succulent relative, so the leaves feel thicker and it copes better with drying out than a true ivy.
Let it trail from a shelf or hanging pot, or give the stems a small support to climb. Bright light keeps the variegation clear and the growth compact.

Light: Bright, indirect light with some gentle morning or evening sun. Watering: Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry before watering. Reduce watering during winter. Temperature: Normal household temperatures are ideal; protect from cold draughts and frost. Potting: Use a free-draining mix. Browse our potting mixes for a suitable gritty blend. Hot tips: Trim long stems to encourage branching. If new growth loses its variegation, move the plant somewhere brighter.
