Description
Begonia rex ‘Ferox’ is a striking rex begonia cultivar known for its heavily textured, almost prehistoric foliage. The broad, deep green leaves are covered in raised black bristles and dramatic ridging, giving the plant a bold, sculptural appearance. Grown for foliage rather than flowers, this is a collector favourite and a standout among rex begonias.
Light: Likes bright light but can handle a bit of lower light. An East or West window is ideal.
Watering: These plants like to have moist soil all the time, but don't let it sit in water as it's prone to root rot. Try to avoid splashing water on its leaves.
Temperature: 18-21°C These plants just want a steady, even temperature and high humidity
Potting: These plants like a well-draining and moisture-retaining mix. Our Thirst Trap mix is an excellent choice for this plant.
Hot tips: These plants love humidity but really can't tolerate a lot of moisture on their delicate leaves, so skip the misting and add in a pebble tray or, ideally keep it in a terrarium.
