Hildewintera Colademonis or Cleistocactus Colademonis - Monkey tail Cactus
Soft, shaggy, and totally surreal—Hildewintera colademononis (aka Monkey Tail Cactus) grows long, white-haired stems that curl and cascade like wild vines. It’s dramatic, drought-tolerant, and a total head-turner when in bloom.
Plant Care
Light: Loves full sun to bright light. Indoors, give it your sunniest window. Outdoors in summer? Absolutely. More sun = more blooms and denser hair.
Watering: Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Water deeply, then leave it alone. In winter, water very sparingly or not at all.
Temperature: Thrives in 18–30°C. Can tolerate brief dips to around 5°C if dry, but not frost-hardy—bring indoors before the cold sets in.
Potting: Our Savvy Succa mix is perfect—gritty, fast-draining, and ideal for desert-style roots. Use a pot with excellent drainage.
Hot tips: Grows quickly when happy and blooms with large, bright red flowers in spring or summer. Perfect for hanging pots or high shelves where it can trail freely. Easy to propagate from stem cuttings once segments are mature.
