Description

Our rescue plants are looking for a loving forever home! Please note that each plant may differ from the listed images and may have some cosmetic imperfections. Despite this, all of our rescue plants are healthy and will flourish with proper care. If you would like more information, feel free to contact us. These plants are discounted due to cosmetic damage only—we never sell plants with pest issues. Your new green friend will be pest-free and ready to thrive.

Drosera binata var. dichotoma, commonly known as the Forked Sundew, is a fascinating carnivorous plant prized for its distinctive branching leaves and impressive insect-catching abilities. Unlike many sundews, its long leaves divide repeatedly into elegant forked segments, each covered in glistening sticky tentacles that trap and digest small insects. Native to Australia and New Zealand, this vigorous species is larger and more dramatic than the common Cape Sundew, making it a standout addition to windowsills, carnivorous plant collections, and bog gardens.

Plant Care

Light
Bright light to full sun. Strong light encourages vigorous growth and abundant dew production.

Watering
Keep the compost consistently moist at all times. Stand the pot in a shallow tray of rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis water. Never allow the compost to dry out.

Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 5–30°C and adapts well to both indoor and outdoor growing in suitable conditions.

Potting
Use a carnivorous plant compost such as a peat-free carnivorous mix or long-fibre sphagnum moss. Avoid fertilisers and standard houseplant composts.

Hot Tips
One of the larger and more vigorous sundews. The sticky droplets will disappear if the plant is not receiving enough light or moisture. Mature plants often produce tall stems of delicate white flowers and can gradually form impressive clumps over time.

Pet Friendly
Generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
