Purple Sprouting Broccoli: vibrant, tender, and full of flavour. This cold-loving veg is a true garden gem, producing slender, violet-hued spears packed with rich, nutty taste. Harvested in the hungry gap of late winter to early spring, it brings a burst of colour and nourishment when little else is thriving. Perfect steamed, sautéed, or tossed into stir-fries, it’s as beautiful as it is delicious.
Grown from seed lovingly by a local allotmenteer right here in Bristol, they’re as rooted in the community as they are in the soil.

Position: full sun or light shade – thrives in rich, well-drained soil with plenty of space Hardiness: fully hardy biennial vegetable – ideal for overwintering Feeding & Watering: water regularly in dry weather; feed occasionally with a balanced liquid fertiliser Hot Tips: plant in late spring to early summer for a late winter to spring crop. Protect from pigeons and caterpillars with netting. Cut spears regularly to encourage more shoots. Best grown in beds or large raised planters.
