Paphiopedilum ‘Pinocchio’ - Lady’s Slipper Orchid-Venus Slipper
Note, these orchids are not guaranteed to be in flower on delivery.
Charming, quirky, and in it for the long haul—Paphiopedilum ‘Pinocchio’ is the slipper orchid that keeps on giving. A hybrid between Paph. glaucophyllum and Paph. primulinum, it’s bred to bloom again and again from the same spike. Like a slow-drip flower machine.
Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. East-facing windows or a shaded south-facing spot work perfectly. Too much sun = scorched leaves. Too little = no flowers.
Watering: Keep the mix lightly moist but never soggy. Water when the surface feels just dry. Use rainwater or filtered if you can—this orchid is sensitive to mineral buildup.
Temperature: Thrives in 18–24°C during the day. Tolerates nighttime dips to 10–13°C, but prefers to stay above 15°C for best growth and flowering. Avoid cold draughts or dry air.
Potting: Use our Airy Aroid mix with added orchid bark—breathable, moisture-retentive, and ideal for those sensitive roots. Repot every 1–2 years in spring.
Hot tips: This is a sequential bloomer, so don’t cut the flower spike while it’s green—new buds often continue forming from the same stem for months. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced orchid fertiliser.
After Flowering: Leave the spike intact as long as it’s green—this variety may bloom multiple times from the same spike. Once it yellows, trim it off and return to regular care.
