Description
Rhipsalis baccifera subsp. horrida is a distinctive form of the mistletoe cactus, recognised by its thicker, slightly bristled stems and more structured, upright-to-trailing habit compared to the smoother subspecies. The segmented green stems branch freely, creating a sculptural, cascading plant as it matures.
As a tropical epiphytic cactus, this plant comes from forest environments rather than deserts. It is grown for its unusual form and texture, and mature specimens may produce small white flowers followed by pale berries.
Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light. Too much direct sun, and you risk scorching the leaves. Can handle the morning sun (think East-facing window), but the afternoon sun may be too much for this beauty.
Watering: Water when the soil dries out about halfway, but it can tolerate a bit less if you are forgetful.
Temperature: 15-28C is ideal.
Potting: These plants like a chunky mix, similar to their natural habitat. Our Airy Aroid is a great choice for this species.
Hot tips: This beauty flowers! Great for low-maintenance greenery with a wild, tropical look.
