Description

A classic hardy Salvia with upright spikes of rich violet-purple flowers held above aromatic grey-green foliage. Loved by bees and other pollinators, ‘Ostfriesland’ flowers for months through summer and brings strong vertical colour to borders, gravel gardens and wildlife-friendly planting schemes. Compact, reliable and easy to grow, it’s a staple cottage garden perennial.

Plant Care

Light: Full sun.
Watering: Water regularly while establishing, then only during prolonged dry periods. Drought tolerant once mature.
Temperature: Fully hardy in the UK.
Potting: Prefers well-draining soil and thrives in borders, gravel gardens and large patio containers. Avoid overly wet winter conditions.
Hot tips: Cut back faded flower spikes after blooming to encourage a second flush of flowers later in the season.
Pet Friendly: Generally considered non-toxic to pets.
