Product details

Borage Wildflower Seeds (Borago officinalis) are a fast-growing, pollinator-friendly favourite, loved for their star-shaped blue flowers and edible blooms. This hardy annual is a must-have for wildlife gardens, attracting bees in huge numbers while also offering a beautiful, slightly cucumber-flavoured garnish for drinks and dishes. Easy to grow and wonderfully self-seeding, borage brings a relaxed, cottage garden feel to beds, borders, and containers.

Plant Care
Position: Full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil

Hardiness: Hardy annual in the UK – grows, flowers, sets seed, and dies within one season, often self-seeding for the following year

Watering: Water regularly while establishing, then only during prolonged dry periods as plants become drought-tolerant once mature

Sowing: Sow directly outdoors from March to May or August to September. Scatter seeds lightly and cover with a thin layer of soil. Germination typically takes 7–14 days

Flowering: June to September

Hot Tips: Borage is one of the best plants for pollinators—perfect for boosting biodiversity in your garden. The edible flowers are great frozen into ice cubes for drinks or sprinkled over salads. Allow plants to self-seed for a natural, low-maintenance wildflower patch year after year.

Pet Friendly: Yes (non-toxic to pets, though best not consumed in large quantities)
