Kalanchoe houghtonii – Hybrid Mother of Thousands

A fascinating succulent with personality! The Kalanchoe houghtonii, often called the Hybrid Mother of Thousands, is a naturally occurring cross between Kalanchoe daigremontiana and Kalanchoe delagoensis. Its tall, narrow leaves are patterned with bronze-green markings and lined with tiny plantlets that grow along the edges — each one capable of forming a new baby plant when it drops off. Easy, unusual, and full of charm!

Plant Care 

Light: A sunny window seal is best for this beauty. It prefers bright light and can handle some direct sun; however, be careful to avoid midday sun as this can scorch the leaves. 

Watering: These plants are drought tolerant. Only water when the soil appears very dry, as overwatering can quickly kill these plants. It's usually time to water when the leaves become a bit limp and floppy. Cut way back on watering in the winter and only water when your plant puckers.

Temperature: 16-27°C. Is ideal.

Potting: A well-draining mix is ideal for this plant. Our Savvy Succa would be a great fit.
