Alocasia reginula ‘Black Velvet’ – Black Velvet Alocasia

A compact tropical with dramatic contrast, Alocasia reginula ‘Black Velvet’ is loved for its deep, velvety leaves and striking silvery veins. The dark foliage has a luxurious, almost suede texture that makes this plant feel like living art. Despite its bold looks, it stays small and manageable - perfect for desks, shelves, or grouped displays with other aroids.

Plant Care 

Light: Bright indirect light is best. Can handle some morning sun. 

Watering: This plant likes to have consistently moist soil, but not soaking wet. This plant is sensitive to tap water, so filtered or rainwater is best. 

Temperature: 18-25°C is ideal. These plants do not like sudden chills and prefer it warm and humid. 

Potting: A well-draining and moisture-retaining mix fit this plant well. Try our Airy Aroid mix. Alocasias grow well in Leca and take some of the fuss out of growing this sometimes tricky plant. 

Hot tips: Loves humidity but dislikes wet feet, try a pebble tray to boost humidity without overwatering. Remove any yellowing leaves to keep it looking fresh. Growth may slow in winter - this is normal.
