Begonia amphioxus
With lance-shaped leaves dotted in vivid red spots, Begonia amphioxus is a rare and eye-catching species from Borneo. Its upright, almost otherworldly form and translucent foliage make it a standout for terrariums or bright indoor displays. This one’s a bit more of a diva—but with the right setup, it rewards with stunning colour and growth.
Plant Care
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light—too much sun will scorch the leaves, too little and it may become leggy.
Watering: Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Let the top 1–2cm dry out between waterings. Use filtered or rainwater for best results.
Temperature: Likes it warm—18–26°C is ideal. Keep above 16°C and avoid draughts.
Potting: Our Thirst Trap mix is perfect—moisture-retentive yet airy to protect those delicate roots.
Hot tips: Loves humidity—ideal for terrariums or warm bathrooms. Prone to leaf melt in cold or dry conditions, so avoid temperature drops.
