The Begonia soli-mutata, also known as the Sun-Changing Begonia or Begonia ‘Burle Marx’, is a stunning Rex-type begonia prized for its iridescent foliage. Its textured leaves shift from bright green to deep bronze depending on how much light it receives — hence the name “sun-changing.” Compact and full of character, this begonia adds instant texture and drama to terrariums, desks, or shaded plant shelves.
Plant Care Light: Loves bright, indirect light. Direct sun will crisp those gorgeous leaves, but too little and the cross might fade.
Watering: Keep the soil lightly moist, but don’t let it sit wet. Let the top few centimetres dry out before watering again. Avoid getting the leaves wet — bottom watering is your friend!
Temperature: Happy in 18–24°C. Keep away from cold draughts and definitely above 15°C.
Potting: Thrives in our A Sandy Loam mix — fast-draining and just the right balance to avoid soggy roots.
Hot tips: Loves humidity but not misting — too much moisture on the leaves = trouble. Place on a pebble tray or near other plants to boost humidity without the drama. A nice one for a Terrarium
