Catananche caerulea - Cupid’s Dart
Catananche caerulea: papery petals, cornflower-blue charm, and a long flowering season. Also called Cupid’s Dart, this wild-looking wonder brings soft meadow vibes to borders and looks stunning dried too.
Plant Care
Position: full sun in free-draining soil – thrives in gravel gardens, sunny borders, or cottage-style planting
Hardiness: fully hardy perennial in the UK (down to -15°C or below); dies back in winter and re-emerges in spring
Hot Tips: great as a cut or dried flower. Deadhead to prolong blooming or leave seed heads for texture. Loves poor soil and hates sitting wet – excellent in coastal or drought-prone gardens.
