Chamaecereus ‘Ubink Cerise’ - peanut cactus
Short, stubby, and a total show-off—Chamaecereus ‘Ubink Cerise’ is all about neon-pink blooms and quirky cactus character. Sprawls like a starfish, flowers like fireworks, and doesn’t ask for much in return.
Plant Care
Light: Full sun is best—indoors or out. A bright south- or west-facing window is ideal. Outdoors in summer? Yes please! Just acclimate slowly to prevent scorch.
Watering: Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. This cactus stores water in its stems and hates wet roots—especially in cooler temps. Water very sparingly in winter.
Temperature: Thrives in 18–26°C during the growing season. In winter, it prefers a cool rest around 5–10°C. It can tolerate light frosts and dips to –5°C if the soil is bone dry and it's protected from excessive moisture. Not frost-hardy long-term, so bring indoors or cover well before hard freezes.
Potting: Our Savvy Succa mix is perfect—fast-draining, gritty, and exactly what this little desert native needs to stay healthy and bloom.
Hot tips: Blooms in late spring to early summer with shocking cerise-pink flowers. Keep slightly root-bound to encourage flowering. Super easy to propagate from stem cuttings—just snip, dry for a day or two, and pot up.
