A chunky, natural growing medium made from the husk of coconuts. Coir husk chips hold onto moisture without becoming heavy or soggy, while creating plenty of air pockets around plant roots.

They’re brilliant for aroids, orchids and other plants that prefer a looser, more breathable potting mix. Mix them into your usual compost to improve drainage and structure, use them as part of a DIY chunky aroid mix, or add a layer around roots when repotting.

Coir husk chips are especially useful for plants with thicker roots that don’t enjoy sitting in dense soil — think Monstera, Philodendron, Anthurium and Alocasia.

How to use: Soak before use, then mix into your chosen potting medium. They work beautifully alongside perlite, bark and compost for a custom blend with better airflow.
