Description

A timeless woodland perennial loved for its delicate nodding white bell-shaped flowers and rich sweet fragrance. Convallaria majalis spreads slowly to form lush green carpets, bringing a classic cottage garden feel to shaded borders and woodland-style planting schemes. Flowering in spring, it pairs beautifully with ferns and other shade-loving plants.

Plant Care

Light: Partial shade to full shade. Prefers cooler sheltered positions out of harsh afternoon sun.
Watering: Keep soil lightly moist, especially during active growth in spring. More drought tolerant once established.
Temperature: Fully hardy in the UK.
Potting: Thrives in humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-draining soil. Excellent for woodland gardens and shaded containers.
Hot tips: Allow plants to naturalise for the best display over time. Mulching annually with compost or leaf mould helps maintain healthy growth.
Pet Friendly: No — toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
