Euphorbia ingens (Candelabra Tree)
Euphorbia ingens, often called the Candelabra Tree, brings bold desert architecture indoors. With its tall, sculptural stems and branching silhouette, it’s perfect for adding instant impact to a sunny spot. Despite its dramatic look, it’s incredibly low-maintenance — thriving on bright light and very little water. A brilliant choice for anyone who loves statement plants but doesn’t want to fuss.
Light: Loves bright, direct sunlight. A south or west-facing window is ideal. It can tolerate slightly lower light but will grow slower and lean toward the light.
Watering: Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and even longer in winter. Euphorbias are drought-tolerant and much prefer underwatering to overwatering.
Temperature: Prefers warm indoor temperatures between 18–28°C. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid letting it sit below 10°C.
Potting: Pot in our Savvy Succa Mix, which offers excellent drainage for cactus and succulent types. Always use a pot with drainage holes to prevent root rot.
Hot Tips: Handle with care — Euphorbias contain a milky sap that can irritate skin, so wear gloves when pruning or repotting. Wipe dust off the stems occasionally to help it photosynthesise properly.
Pet Safety: Not safe for pets if nibbled. The sap is toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested.
