Creeping Jenny is a cheerful, low-growing perennial with trailing stems and rounded golden-green leaves that spill beautifully over the edges of pots, hanging baskets and mixed outdoor planters. It is especially useful as a soft groundcover or trailing filler, adding bright colour and movement without getting too tall. In summer, it may produce small yellow flowers, though the foliage is the real star. It is perennial and semi-evergreen to evergreen in mild UK conditions, though it may die back a little in colder winters before bouncing back in spring.

Position: Best in part shade to sun. The golden foliage is brightest with good light, but it appreciates some protection from harsh afternoon sun if kept in a pot.
Watering: Keep evenly moist, especially in containers. Creeping Jenny does not like drying out completely and is happiest in consistently damp but not stagnant soil.
Hardiness: Hardy in most UK gardens. It can handle cold weather well, though top growth may look tired or die back in winter.
Hot Tips: Great for softening planter edges, underplanting taller outdoor plants, or adding a trailing “spiller” effect to mixed containers. It can spread when happy, so keep it contained if you do not want it wandering.
