It’s an easy way to add a proper splash of colour to a bright windowsill without signing yourself up for a high-maintenance diva. Grown as a houseplant in the UK, it stays neat and compact, making it brilliant for shelves, desks and small sunny spaces.
Plant Care Light: Best in bright light, with a little gentle direct sun if you can give it. A sunny windowsill is ideal; avoid a dark corner.
Watering: Let the soil dry out fully between waterings. This one stores water in its fleshy leaves, so it is much happier a little dry than constantly wet.
Temperature: Likes warmth — aim for 18–25°C, and keep it away from cold draughts.
Potting: Our Savvy Succa mix is ideal — light, free-draining and made for plants that hate soggy roots.
Hot tips: Remove spent flower stems to keep it looking tidy and encourage the next flush. Keep water out of the crown and never leave it sitting in a saucer of water.
