Lepismium cruciforme is an elegant epiphytic cactus with long, flat, segmented stems that trail and arch as the plant matures. The soft green foliage has gently scalloped edges and a relaxed, cascading habit, making it a popular choice for hanging pots and shelves. Unlike desert cacti, this species comes from tropical forests and is grown for its form and texture rather than spines.
Over time, mature plants may produce small, pale flowers along the stem edges, adding subtle seasonal interest. A great option for those who love trailing houseplants with a slightly unusual look.
Plant Care Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. It can handle a touch of sun, but no harsh rays, please—this one's from the shady treetops.
Watering: Let the top half of the soil dry out before watering. Unlike desert cacti, it likes a bit more regular moisture—but still no soggy bottoms. Ease off in winter.
Temperature: Loves warmth and humidity. Keep it between 16–26°C, and away from cold draughts or dry air.
Potting: Our Airy Aroid mix is perfect—light, chunky, and drains beautifully while holding just enough moisture for those epiphytic roots.
