Nepenthes alata - monkey jars
An excuse to get another plant, YES, PLEASE! These lovely carnivorous plants will lure and trap pests in their unusual hanging jars.
Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light. They will tolerate some morning sun.
Watering: Keep soil moist but not soggy. These plants won't tolerate tap water, so rainwater or filter water is used only for these unusual beauties. If there is no water in the pitcher, add a bit to each pitcher.
Temperature: 15-25°C is ideal. If you are comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt, so is your plant.
Potting: I find that carnivorous plants are best in sphagnum moss only or a mix of sphagnum and choir. Don't use commercial mixes for these, as they need specific soil.
Hot tips: Humidity is key to plant health. These are a great choice to add to a group of plants, a steamy bathroom or a cabinet.
