Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ - monkey jars

Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ - monkey jars

Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ is a showy carnivorous hybrid known for its bold pitchers and leathery dark leaves. Introduced in 2019, it quickly gained collector cred for its unusual pitcher shape and robust foliage. The pitchers often appear distorted in the coolest way possible — like jungle teacups from another planet.

Perfect for terrarium setups or bright bathrooms, this beauty thrives in humid conditions and bright, filtered light. It’s the kind of plant that starts conversations and catches flies (literally).

Plant Care
Light:
Bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch it, but too little and you’ll lose those iconic pitchers.

Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Use rainwater, distilled or reverse-osmosis water only — no tap! If pitchers arrive dry, you can add a bit of rainwater to them (up to ¼ full) once to help them recover.

Temperature:
Loves warmth and humidity. Ideal range is 18–28°C. Avoid temps below 15°C — it’s tropical royalty, after all.

Potting:
This one does best in a free-draining, acidic carnivorous plant mix. Pop in and we will mix you somethign up :)

Hot Tips:
Don’t fertilise the soil — Avoid misting (hello fungus), and keep humidity high through placement or a humidifier.

Pet Friendly: No — not toxic, but not pet-friendly either (and it’s not a snack!).

Online plant orders: You will receive a similar plant to the one photographed and not necessarily the same. If you would like a photo of the exact plant we are sending just drop us a line! Pots and plants are sold separately unless otherwise specified in the listing.
