Description
Platycerium bifurcatum, or the Staghorn Fern, is a total showstopper with its antler-like fronds and sculptural vibes. Whether mounted on wood or potted in a basket, it’s a living wall feature that brings jungle drama to your space. Native to tropical forests, it absorbs moisture and nutrients through both its roots and fronds — like nature’s own art installation.
Plant Care
Light:
Loves bright, indirect light. Direct sun can crisp the fronds, so keep it dappled and shady, just like a rainforest canopy.
Watering:
Keep lightly moist — water when the roots or mounting base feel dry, about once a week in warmer months and less in winter. If mounted, soak the entire board and plant for 15–20 minutes.
Temperature:
Prefers 18–26°C, and should be kept above 10°C. Avoid draughts or sudden temperature changes.
Potting:
If mounted: no soil needed. If potted, use our A Sandy Loam mix for breathability and fast drainage.
Hot tips:
Mist the fronds occasionally in warm weather, and don’t remove the brown “shield fronds” at the base — they’re meant to look that way and help protect the plant. Loves humidity, so ideal for kitchens and bathrooms!
