Stetsonia coryne (Toothpick Cactus) This striking cactus is a total show-off, with chunky blue-green stems, chunky white spines and a wonderfully architectural vibe. Stetsonia coryne grows slowly but steadily, eventually forming a tall, sculptural column that looks incredible on a bright windowsill, shelf or plant stand. A brilliant choice if you love a dramatic look without high-maintenance care.
Light Prefers bright light and will be happiest with direct sun. A south- or west-facing window is perfect.
Watering Water deeply but infrequently. Let the soil dry out fully between drinks - this cactus absolutely hates sitting in soggy soil. In winter, water even less frequently. We don't reccomend watering from October to March unless the plant is showing signs of dehydration.
Temperature Warm, bright rooms suit it best. It tolerates normal household temperatures but keep it away from cold draughts.
Potting Use a free-draining mix like our Savvy Succa blend. Repot every 2-3 years in spring once it outgrows the pot or roots appear at the base.
Hot Tips This plant appreciates plenty of sunshine to stay compact. Handle with care - its long spines are no joke. Not safe for pets if nibbled or played with.
