Tillandsia ionantha – Air Plant
Tillandsia ionantha, also known as the Air Plant, is a compact epiphyte with silvery-green leaves that blush pink to red as it matures. When in bloom, it produces striking violet tubular flowers, making it a favourite among collectors. Unlike most plants, it doesn’t need soil—just bright light, regular misting, and good air circulation. Perfect for terrariums, displays, or perched on a shelf where its sculptural form can shine.
Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light, too much sun, and you risk scorching the poor plant.
Watering: This plant prefers to have a dunk in Rainwater (or filtered water) about once a week. Let it have its bath for about 20 minutes, then allow it to dry out before placing back in its home.
Temperature: 10-21°C is an ideal range for these plants.
