Calathea ‘White Star’ – Calathea majestica ‘White Star’ (Goeppertia)

Elegant and a little bit dramatic, Calathea ‘White Star’ is all about those painterly leaves—soft green striped with crisp white and blush pink tones. The fine pinstripe pattern gives it a refined, almost hand-painted look, making it a favourite for collectors and design-led spaces.

Like other Calatheas, it’s a bit particular—but get the conditions right and it will absolutely reward you with stunning foliage.

Plant Care 

Light: They like bright indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. 

Watering: They like their soil moist all the time but don't overwater either. You will know when it's time for a drink as their leaves will begin to curl. The leaves will also curl if you overwater, so it's good to check the soil before you give it a drink. This plant will not do well with tap water, so if possible, rainwater or filtered water is only for these drama queens.

Temperature: 18-25°C is ideal. Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature changes

Potting: These plants like a well-draining moisture retaining mix. Our Thirst Trap mix is an excellent choice for this plant.

Hot tips: Humidity is key for these plants, but misting can cause issues with their delicate leaves as they aren't keen on having water sit on them for too long. Best to use a pebble tray or place them amongst lots of plant friends.
