You will receive a similar plant to the one photographed and not necessarily the same. If you would like a photo of the exact plant we are sending, just drop us a line! Pots and plants are sold separately unless otherwise specified in the listing.
Crassula perforata, commonly known as String of Buttons, is a distinctive succulent with stacked, geometric leaves that spiral neatly along trailing stems. Each silvery-green leaf is often edged with soft pink when grown in bright sun, giving the plant a subtle but beautiful colour contrast.
This evergreen perennial has a gently trailing, architectural habit, making it perfect for pots, shelves, and container displays where its unique structure can be appreciated up close. Over time it forms a sculptural cluster of stems, adding texture and interest to sunny patios and indoor succulent collections alike.
Native to South Africa, String of Buttons is drought tolerant and thrives in bright, sunny conditions with minimal care, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and collectors.
Plant Care Light: Loves full sun to bright indirect light. More light = tighter growth and stronger colour. Indoors? South-facing window is ideal.
Watering: Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is its nemesis—err on the dry side, especially in winter.
Temperature: Happy in 16–26°C. Can tolerate cool nights down to about 5°C if kept dry. Not frost-hardy, so bring indoors before the first freeze.
Potting: Our Savvy Succa mix is ideal—gritty, fast-draining, and just right for its shallow roots. Terracotta pots help prevent overwatering.
Hot tips: Easy to propagate from stem cuttings. Great in shallow bowls or trailing from pots. May bloom in spring with tiny starry flowers if conditions are right.
Pet Friendly: No
