Mammillaria crestata, commonly known as the Crested Mammillaria or Brain Cactus, is a rare and fascinating collector cactus prized for its unusual fan-shaped and sculptural growth. Unlike typical round Mammillaria, these plants grow in unpredictable crested forms, creating flowing, coral-like shapes that make each plant completely one of a kind. Plant Care
Light:Cacti need bright light to survive. My rule of thumb is always to let them have a view of the sky. The best bet is a sunny windowsill.
Watering: These plants are drought tolerant. Only water when the soil completely dries out, as overwatering can quickly kill these plants. Cut way back on watering in winter, if at all November-March.
Temperature: Hardy to -7c IF kept dry during cold spells.
Potting:A well-draining mix is ideal for this plant. Our Savvy Succa would be a great fit.
Hot tips: Great starter cactus for beginners and collectors alike. Why not grab a few to build your own cactus garden?
Pet Friendly:Yes most of this mix should be, but the spikes can cause irritation so best to place it out of reach of your furry friends or small humans.
