Grown for its unusually smooth, chunky ribs and lack of fierce spines, this novelty cactus is perfect for anyone who wants a sun-loving succulent without the sting. It’s low-maintenance, architectural, and surprisingly pet-friendly – ideal for bright windowsills, sunny shelves, or as a conversation-starting gift.
Plant Care
Light: Needs lots of bright light – ideally direct sun for part of the day. A south-facing windowsill is perfect.
Watering: Allow soil to dry out fully between waterings. Water thoroughly when dry, and make sure it never sits soggy.
Temperature: Thrives in warm, dry conditions. Keep above 10°C – can tolerate short dips lower, but prefers to be cosy.
Potting: Our Savvy Succa mix is ideal – free-draining, gritty and breathable to avoid rot.
Hot Tips: No spines = no drama, but still handle with care as the ribs can bruise. Acclimate slowly to full sun to avoid sunburn. Great for kids and cautious cactus fans!
