Cymbidium Orchid is a show-stopping houseplant, loved for its tall, arching stems covered in long-lasting blooms. Flowers appear in clusters in shades of pink, yellow, green, red, or white, often lasting for up to 8–12 weeks. With its strap-like leaves and elegant display, it makes a dramatic centrepiece indoors and can also be placed outdoors in summer. Cymbidiums are among the easiest orchids to care for, rewarding even beginners with spectacular flowers.
Plant Care
Light: Likes bright indirect light. An east or west-facing window is ideal.
Watering: Water when top inch of soil is dry.
Temperature: These plants prefer it a bit cooler. Between 10-20˚C in the day is preferable and can go up to 30˚C in summer. Night temp 10-12˚C.
Potting: A chunky and well-aired mix; Our Super Chonk mix does the trick.
Hot tips: Cymbidiums often bloom in winter when other plants are resting, bringing colour and life to your home. After flowering, trim spent stems and continue care to encourage blooms the following season. Once the plant has finished flowering, cut back the stem just above a node (the small bump or knuckle on the stem). This will encourage the orchid to bloom again.
