Guzmania ‘Theresa’ is a vibrant tropical bromeliad known for its bold central flower spike and glossy green foliage. The colourful bracts rise from the centre of the plant in striking shades of red or coral, creating a dramatic pop of colour that can last for months. Compact and architectural, this plant is perfect for brightening desks, shelves, or tabletops with a long-lasting tropical display.
Plant Care
Light:Bright indirect light to semi-shade. This plant can withstand some morning sun from an east-facing window but any more, and you risk scorching its stunning leaves.
Watering:This plant likes to have its central cup filled with water all the time. In the summer months, keep the soil moist, and in winter, water when the soil begins to dry out. This plant is sensitive to tap water, so be sure to use rainwater or filtered water, and flush or change out the central cup water weekly.
Temperature: This plant is easygoing but will not survive temperatures below 10°C
Potting:This plant is an epiphyte (grows on other plants) in the wild. We recommend a chunky well-draining mix to mimic its natural habitat. Our Super Chonk mix should do the trick..or you could even mount this plant to a piece of driftwood to showcase it in its natural element; just be sure to be mindful to give it a bit more water if you decide to mount your plant. The main thing to remember is that your soil is just to hold this beauty in place.
Hot tips:Humidity will really keep this plant happy. Once your plant is done flowering, remove the bloom so that the plant can focus on producing 'pups'. These pups or baby plants will present as offshoots to the mother plant. Once they are about 1/3 of the size of the mother plant you can remove them and replant to enjoy another bomeliad life cycle.
