Bold, sculptural, and full of character, Neoraimondia herzogiana, commonly known as the Baseball Bat Cactus, is an architectural columnar cactus prized for its thick, club-like stems and blue-green skin. Native to South America, this striking species brings a strong desert-modern feel to interiors and makes a brilliant statement plant in bright spaces.
Slow-growing but long-lived, the Baseball Bat Cactus develops upright columns over time, giving it a timeless, almost sculptural presence. A great choice for cactus collectors and anyone drawn to strong shapes and low-maintenance plants.
Light Prefers bright light and will be happiest with direct sun. A south- or west-facing window is perfect.
Watering Water deeply but infrequently. Let the soil dry out fully between drinks - this cactus absolutely hates sitting in soggy soil. In winter, water even less frequently. We don't reccomend watering from October to March unless the plant is showing signs of dehydration.
Temperature Warm, bright rooms suit it best. It tolerates normal household temperatures but keep it away from cold draughts.
Potting Use a free-draining mix like our Savvy Succa blend. Repot every 2-3 years in spring once it outgrows the pot or roots appear at the base.
Hot Tips This plant appreciates plenty of sunshine to stay compact. Handle with care - its long spines are no joke. Not safe for pets if nibbled or played with.
