A real standout in the Rhipsalis world, Rhipsalis ‘Red Coral’ is loved for its flat, trailing stems that flush deep red under bright light. Unlike typical cacti, this is a jungle species—meaning softer growth, no spines, and a more relaxed, trailing habit that works beautifully in hanging pots or cascading from a shelf.
Its colour shift is where it gets exciting—lush green in lower light, but with strong light it develops rich coral-red tones, making each plant a little unique.
Plant Care
Light:Bright indirect light is ideal. Can tolerate some gentle direct sun—this is what encourages those red tones. Lower light = greener growth.
Watering:Allow the top half of the soil to dry out between waterings. More forgiving than desert cacti, but still doesn’t like sitting wet.
Temperature:15-28C is ideal.
Potting: These plants like a chunky mix, similar to their natural habitat. Our Airy Aroid is a great choice for this species.
Hot tips: Colour will deepen with brighter light, but introduce slowly to avoid stress. Looks best styled trailing or in a hanging pot.
