You will receive a similar plant to the one photographed and not necessarily the same. If you would like a photo of the exact plant we are sending, just drop us a line! Pots and plants are sold separately unless otherwise specified in the listing.
Alocasia 'Imperial Red' is a bold tropical houseplant prized for its dramatic upright foliage and rich burgundy stems. Its large, glossy deep green leaves are held proudly above thick crimson-red petioles, creating a striking architectural display that instantly elevates any indoor jungle. With its strong form and luxurious appearance, this Alocasia is perfect as a statement plant in bright living spaces.
Although it has a dramatic look, 'Imperial Red' is surprisingly straightforward to care for when given warmth, humidity and bright indirect light.
Plant Care
Light:Bright indirect light is best.
Watering:This plant likes to have consistently moist soil, think moist, and not soaking wet.
Temperature:18-25°C is ideal. These plants do not like sudden chills and prefer it warm and humid.
Potting:A well-draining and moisture-retaining mix fit this plant well. Try ourAiry Aroidmix with a bit of added vermiculite to help retain moisture. I think Alocasias grow well inLecaand take some of the fuss out of growing this sometimes tricky plant.
Hot tips:These plants can be zombies (i.e. they return from the dead). In winter, they sometimes go dormant but don't throw that pot out yet! Your alocasia will likely grow anew come spring and warmer weather.
Pet Friendly:Mildly toxic to pets and humans
